Found your site the other night, read it all, pissing myself laughing. Good job! I'm an Aussie Uni student in his second year of a Bachelor of (And I know I'll be lynched for saying this ;) Psychology - But I totally don't agree with this apparent status quo of "The eternal war between Psychology and Sociology". I've only done the standard-fare first year intro type units, but it was enough for me to decide that Social Psych will be one of my minors.
I'm more of a Marxist in terms of inclination, but perhaps you could suggest some readings more in regards to expanding my own sociological knowledge - Understanding the individual is good, but I also recognise the need to understand how we operate in groups :)
Oh goodness, recommendations for so broad a topic?
Foucault, all the feminists, Erving Goffman, and more Foucault. :D
Thank you for this! :)
Psychology major and Sociology minor here. I love them both and I think that they complement each other. At least in my head they do. What is so wrong about wanting to know why people do the weird shit they do by examining the inner workings of the mind and studying human social activity? To me it's a perfect combination and I felt that I needed to know about both to get a more complete picture.
Thank you! :)
GUESS WHO WANTS MORE SUBMISSIONS.

LOL @ Troll anon...That's not even right; if anything, PSYCHOLOGY is just watered down sociology!
Troll anons are fun. :)
Pyschology and Sociology are so different. Totally different angles, totally different methods (if a similar subject of study). I would say neither is a watered down version.
Hell, occasionally the compliment each other!
