Mine started quite strictly looking at how humour against marginalised groups is defended, but after data collection and coding has become about so much more, particularly the ways in which people negotiate their use of humour in relation to audience and context and ‘a line’ they’re not to cross. It’s very Goffmanian, actually. Lovely stuff.
